How to Play: The Rules of the Challenge
The Wason’s MemoTest is a visual memory game in a 4×5 format (20 cards in total). While the premise is a classic, the execution features design “traps” that you need to know so you don’t end up with a “YOU LOSE!” message staring you in the face.
The Interaction Mechanics
- Starting the Match: When you tap the center button, the timer starts. Don’t rush; while time is important for the ranking, it’s the moves that will knock you out.
- Card Flip Animation: Each card has a 5-frame animation. You cannot interact with another card until the first one’s animation has finished. This is designed to prevent “click spamming” and force you to actually process the image.
- The Move Limit: Here lies the true difficulty. You have a maximum of 15 failed moves. A move is only counted when you open two cards and they don’t match. If you find a pair, the counter does not increase.
- Victory and Sharing: Once you find all 10 pairs, the game stops. Your final time and moves used will be displayed. I highly recommend using the “Share” button; it generates an optimized screenshot so you can rub your victory in your friends’ faces on WhatsApp or social media.
Roster Analysis: 10 Icons Playing with Your Mind
To make this Online MemoTest epic, we couldn’t just use fruits or colors. We chose icons that trigger an emotional response, which—ironically—makes short-term data retention even harder.
🎬 Titans of Film and TV
- Terminator & Robocop: I put them together for a reason. Both have grayish, metallic color palettes. In the heat of the game, it’s very easy to confuse a frame of Detroit metal with one from Skynet.
- Marty McFly: The Back to the Future protagonist brings that classic orange and blue 80s aesthetic. He’s one of the easiest “anchors” to remember.
- Jason Voorhees: The terror of Friday the 13th. His mask is a strong focal point. If Jason pops up, your brain tends to register it quickly due to survival instinct (or a love for slashers).
📺 Pop Culture and Memes
- Michael Jackson: The King of Pop has such an iconic silhouette that he’s hard to forget. This is the card everyone wants to find first to “clear” the board.
- Chris Rock: Straight from the most controversial stages. His expression in the game is designed to make you smile and, for a second, break your concentration.
- Greta Thunberg: Greta’s gaze is the “judge” of the game. If you miss a pair and she appears, it feels like she’s asking you “How dare you?” for wasting a move. It’s a hilarious psychological pressure element.
🤡 The DNA of “El Canal del Wason”
- AnÃbal Pachano: A tribute to our culture and an artist with a unique visual aesthetic. His top hats and style are unmistakable, but beware: his visual complexity can trick your eye if you don’t pay attention to details.
- Bad Daddy: Bringing the touch of urban music and modernity. His contrast with the 80s characters makes the board feel alive.
- The Wason (Our Mascot): The soul of the channel. This card represents our identity. If you can’t manage to pair the Wason, you definitely need more caffeine or more hours of streaming!
Strategies to Avoid Failure
Many people go into memory games thinking it’s pure luck. Rookie mistake. Luck only exists on the first click; the rest is pure data management.
The “L-Scan” Technique
In a 4×5 board, it’s best not to open cards erratically. Try opening the first one in the top-left corner and comparing it with one in the center. If you fail, you already have two stable reference points. Don’t jump from one corner to another without processing what’s in the middle.
Managing the 15 Moves
Remember, you have 15 chances to fail. This means you can afford to “explore” half the board without making a single pair and still have a margin to win. The secret is not repeating mistakes. If you already opened Robocop at position (2,3) and you open it again without knowing where the other one is, you are throwing a move in the trash.
Security and Community: Play Responsibly
As I always say on the channel, user experience comes first. This MemoTest is a lightweight and secure web development.
Note to the Community: This game is a browser experience (HTML5/JS). At “El Canal del Wason,” we do not distribute executable files (.exe) or ask for suspicious downloads for you to play. If you see this game on another site asking you to install something, run! To follow the development of new levels, characters (gaming legends are coming!), or participate in time trials, join our Official Discord and follow our social media. That’s where the magic happens safely.
The Impact of Retro in the Digital Age
Why are we still playing MemoTest in 2026? Because simplicity is elegant. In an era where games try to be infinite “services,” having a challenge with a beginning, an end, and a clear goal (beating your own time) is therapeutic.
The generational crossover of putting Pachano next to the Terminator isn’t an accident. We want the parent who saw Back to the Future in theaters to compete against the kid who knows Bad Daddy. It’s a bridge of bits and memories.
Conclusion: Do you have what it takes?
The Wason’s MemoTest is now available for you to crush it. Don’t let the 15 moves or Greta’s judging gaze intimidate you. Use logic, enjoy the custom audio, and above all, prove that your memory isn’t as rusty as you think.
If you hit a record time, don’t forget to share it! I’ll be checking the screenshots where you tag us to highlight the “Wasones with Elephant Memory” in the next channel video.
Good luck, and may the pairs be with you!
