How a passion project grew into a universe of characters, comics, and videos—and what I can create for you.
Every creative professional has that one special project, the one that starts from a simple idea, almost like a personal challenge. For me, that project is named “Mateico & Cabeza de Termo.” Today, I want to open the doors to this little universe I built from the ground up, not just to share my most personal work, but to show you how a spark of creativity can be transformed into beloved characters, visual stories, and dynamic animated content.
The Origin: “Rioplatense” Humor in a World of Objects
What if the everyday objects that accompany us had a life of their own? And what if a mate gourd and a thermos—two icons of our “Rioplatense” culture in Uruguay and Argentina—were the stars of their own adventures?
“Mateico & Cabeza de Termo” was born from that very premise. It’s a humor comic that captures the essence of our local customs and daily chats through absurd situations and witty dialogue. From the very first sketch, my goal was clear: to create a world where anything could happen.
What makes this project so special to me is that it was a solo creative journey. I handled the entire process:
Scripts and Jokes: Every piece of dialogue and comedic situation was written and designed to bring a smile.
Character Design: I gave life and personality to Mateico, the witty thinker, and Cabeza de Termo, his impulsive companion.
Drawing and Illustration: Every panel and every page was hand-drawn, carefully crafting the style and expression of the characters.
From Page to Publication: The Comics
The satisfaction of seeing an idea become a tangible product is unmatched. The project grew until it was brought to life in four published print editions, each filled with new stories and jokes. It was a thrilling challenge that allowed me to explore the art of visual storytelling.

The Next Logical Step: Animation!
Once the characters had a voice on paper, the next step was to give them a real one on screen. That’s how I decided to bring “Mateico & Cabeza de Termo” into the world of animation, producing three short animated clips that capture the essence of their humor in motion.
This process allowed me not only to animate my own creations but also to direct, produce, and edit each piece, ensuring the final result was faithful to the spirit of the comic.
